A Safe & Secure Environment

Your pet’s safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.

Our home is located just 150 metres from the boarding facilities, meaning someone is always on-site to monitor and care for the animals.

We’ve carefully designed our setup to ensure a secure, supervised, and comfortable environment at all times.

All bookings are handled personally by phone to ensure the right fit for every pet.

Health & Safety

Happy healthy well cared for cats

To protect the health of all pets in our care, we have a few important requirements in place:

  • All pets must be up to date with vaccinations

  • Dogs must have Kennel Cough vaccination

  • Vaccination records are required prior to boarding

These measures help us maintain a safe and healthy environment for every animal staying with us.

Age Guidelines

We recommend that pets are at least 5 months old before boarding.

Younger animals can be more sensitive to changes in environment, and waiting until they are a little older helps ensure a more comfortable and stress-free experience for them.

We do not accept pets over 10 years of age that have not been regular visitors. It is a welfare issue as I feel putting an animal of that vintage into a strange surrounding with unfamiliar faces can be quite stressful.

Why Choose Us

  • Over 20 years of experience

  • Purpose-built boarding facilities

  • Peaceful countryside setting

  • On-site supervision at all times

  • Trusted by pet owners across Kildare and beyond

Our Breed – The Hovawart

Happy healthy well cared for cats
Happy healthy well cared for cats

We are delighted to introduce our own dogs — the Hovawart, a striking and still relatively rare breed in Ireland. Our Hovawarts can often be found near the entrance, happily greeting visitors as they arrive.

The Hovawart is a historic German breed dating back to the Middle Ages and comes in three colours: blonde, black, and black and gold. While the breed is still uncommon, it is steadily growing in popularity, with approximately 50–60 now located across Ireland.

We have been actively involved in developing the breed in Ireland for over 30 years, and our Micona prefix is now recognised across Europe thanks to the success of our dogs on the international stage.

Our dogs are first and foremost much-loved family pets, but we are proud that they have also achieved significant success in championship shows both in Ireland and internationally.

Prospective puppy owners are carefully selected, and all enquiries are subject to a thorough screening process before being considered for our waiting list.

For further information on the breed, please visit the Hovawart Club of Ireland Facebook page. Puppy enquiries can be directed to the club secretary at [email protected]
